State Rattled by Hit-and-Run Incidents; Viva College Professor Among the Victims

Virar: Due to the frequent occurrence of hit and run incidents across the state, the need for timely action is being expressed. A female teacher has died after being hit by a speeding Fortuner car in Virar. The name of the professor who died in the accident is Atmaja Kasat (46). Atmaja Kast was a professor in Viva Junior College.

After leaving college on August 1, Atmaja was going to her home in Gokul township in Virar West. While returning home around 5:30 in the evening, she was hit by a speeding car from behind. After this she was admitted to the hospital. But she died late at night during the treatment.

A young man named Shubham Patil (24) was driving the car at that time. The accused Shubham was reportedly driving the car under the influence of alcohol. After Pune, Worli, Badlapur, now the incident of hit and run has come to light in Virar. A case has been registered at Arnala Sagari police station late at night. A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 105 and 281 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS 2023) as well as Sections 184 and 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
